May Mobility is transforming cities through autonomous technology to create a safer, greener, more accessible world. Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, May develops and deploys autonomous vehicles (AVs) powered by our innovative Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology that literally reimagines the way AVs think.
Our vehicles do more than just drive themselves - they provide value to communities, bridge public transit gaps and move people where they need to go safely, easily and with a lot more fun. We’re building the world’s best autonomy system to reimagine transit by minimizing congestion, expanding access and encouraging better land use in order to foster more green, vibrant and livable spaces. Since our founding in 2017, we’ve given more than 500,000 autonomous rides to real people around the globe. And we’re just getting started. We’re hiring people who share our passion for building the future, today, solving real-world problems and seeing the impact of their work. Join us.
Job Summary
Senior Integration Test Engineers serve as key stakeholders in the R&D process. This role bridges simulation and on-road testing by validating vehicle system behavior in a controlled lab environment. Senior Integration Test Engineers will focus on both static vehicle-level and HIL testing, replaying real-world drive logs, and documenting system responses. This role is unique in which you will lead testing on HIL bench test setups in addition to static vehicle-level simulated driving.
As a Senior HIL Test Engineer, you will work closely with software, hardware, and systems engineers to architect the HIL infrastructure, pioneer new automation processes, and mentor the team in validating safety-critical systems in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive HIL test plans, focusing on the integration of autonomous software with autonomous system hardware
- Perform bench-level testing of sensors and compute modules
- Execute static vehicle-level HIL testing by simulating real-world driving scenarios in a controlled environment
- Execute structured test plans covering functional, regression, and fault-injection scenarios
- Measure and analyze software performance (latency, CPU/memory utilization, throughput) on target hardware to ensure the autonomy stack meets necessary requirements
- Design and implement automated test suites. Integrate HIL test results and automation workflows with cloud computing services (AWS) for scalable data analysis and regression tracking
- Monitor and debug vehicle communications
- Partner with Autonomy and Systems Engineering teams to define validation requirements and translate complex edge cases into repeatable HIL test cases.
- Ensure all anomalies are thoroughly documented. Champion product quality by contributing to acceptance criteria and safety-critical validation metrics
Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to construct and maintain HIL test environments
- Static vehicle-level or chassis dynamometer test experience
- Deep understanding of CAN networks and vehicle communication protocols
- Proficiency with Ethernet protocols (UDP and TCP)
- Experience with CAN bus analysis tools (e.g., Intrepid Vehicle Spy, Vector CANoe/CANalyzer)
- Strong command of Linux environments for system configuration, log manipulation, and troubleshooting
- Expertise in Test Case Automation and scripting to reduce manual testing overhead
- Ability to prioritize complex deliverables and pivot testing strategies as autonomy software evolves
- Strong ability to translate low-level hardware bugs into actionable insights for high-level software teams
- Experience integrating test automation with cloud computing services (AWS)
