Senior Director â Inflammation, at Gilead you will lead early commercialization strategy for pipeline assets across inflammation and immunology, representing the commercial perspective from preâclinical development through early and midâstage clinical programs.
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Commercial Liver, Inflammation, COVIDâ19 and Established Products, this role is accountable for guiding preâproofâofâconcept (preâPOC) and early commercialization activities to inform development decisions, product profiles, and investment priorities. The role operates in a highly crossâfunctional environment and is responsible for integrating market, payer, provider, patient, and competitive insights into development strategy to maximize longâterm patient impact and commercial value.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead Early Commercialization Teams and partner with Global Asset Teams from preâclinical development through initiation of Phase III, ensuring clear transition to inline teams as programs enter lateâstage development
Provide commercial input into development strategy, target product profiles, and portfolio prioritization decisions
Synthesize commercial insights to support evaluation of business development opportunities, including acquisitions and partnerships
Guide teams in developing deep understanding of disease landscapes, unmet need, competitive dynamics, and stakeholder perspectives
Partner with Global Value & Access, Commercialization, Medical Affairs, Development, and selected country teams to integrate global and local insights into cohesive strategies
Serve as the commercial lead for selected partnered or collaborative pipeline programs
Support early commercialization planning activities as appropriate, including foundational branding, positioning, and launch readiness considerations
Success in this role is measured by the development of differentiated pipeline assets that are positioned to maximize patient reach, longâterm value, and sustainable impact.
Bachelorâs degree and fourteen (14) years of relevant experience
or
Masterâs degree and twelve (12) years of relevant experience
or
PhD and twelve (12) years of relevant experience
¡Experience in inflammation, immunology, liver disease, or related therapeutic areas
¡Demonstrated experience influencing product development decisions through early commercialization strategy
¡Experience evaluating pipeline assets, partnerships, or business development opportunities
¡Knowledge of global value, access, and pricing strategy, including development of value narratives and evidence planning
¡Familiarity with U.S. payer dynamics and global market access considerations
¡Strong ability to build collaborative relationships across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Research, Development, Regulatory, and Value & Access teams
¡Experience operating effectively in global, matrixed organizations
