As an Arrhythmia Lab Technologist, you will apply Holter monitors and loop recorders for Inpatients and Outpatients while providing theappropriate instructionsand patient education. Some of your daily tasks include receivingtranstelephonictransmissions from symptomatic and asymptomatic patients, promptly addressing life threating arrhythmias, completingtranstelephonicpacemaker and ICD evaluations andidentifyinglongevity of battery life.Ā In this role, you will collaborate with the physician and nursing personnel to provide exceptional care and theappropriate medicalintervention, working diligently to enhance their treatment experience and health outcomes.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:Ā
Initiate Outpatient and Inpatient ambulatory EKG recordings via Holter monitor or Loop Recorders.
Apply EKG electrodes in theappropriate anatomicalandcardiographicpositions.
Provide patient education and instruction related to the care and use of EKG recording devices.
Perform technical review and complete superimposition scanning of recorded electrocardiographic data from ambulatory monitors and Inpatient Telemetry recordings with clinical accuracy and completeness.
Analyze/edit EKG recordings and generate reports, including EKG stripsrepresentingsignificant arrhythmias and symptomatic events.
Manage third-party cardiac arrhythmiamonitoringdevices and reporting systems.
Notify physicians of abnormal heart rhythms and patients with significant clinical symptoms andassistpatients with securing medicalassistance.
Schedule and complete alltranstelephonicpacemaker and ICD evaluations.
Identifyappropriate pacemakerfunction, document in the electronic report and notify the Device Clinic staff or EP physicians of pacemaker battery depletion and/or device malfunction.
Complete post cardiac device implant calls and confirm follow up is scheduled as outlined by protocol.
Assistwith the scheduling of the device replacement procedure.
Assist the RN or physician with pacemaker and ICD patients in the Device Clinic with device testing and evaluations.
Serve asPreceptorto orientnew staffmembers and visitors.
Assistindevelopmentof department procedures and quality improvement processes.
Maintain all (Main Campus and Regional sites) recorders and scanning equipment and complete documentation for tracking monitors and recorders by serial number and patient demographics.
Complete the data collection and report processing for The Arrhythmia Monitoring Core Lab.
Field and respond to incoming phone calls from third-party vendors, patients, regionalsitesand internal departments.
Provide arrhythmiamonitoringdata as needed for research projects.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Ā
High School Diploma or GED
Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular programorequivalent allied health training programĀ
ORBachelors or Masterāsdegree in a field related to science or physical healthĀ
ORcompleted coursework from a recognized institution in Basic Sciences
Twoyears of experience in the field of Cardiovascular Technology may substitute for post-high school education requirement
CertifiedCardiographicTechnician (CCT)orCertified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) provided by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (must obtain within 6 months of hire date)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Can read EKG tracings with accuracy
Knowledge of EKG techniques and principles to include EKG skin preparation and electrode placementĀ
