Over 1.7 billion people worldwide live with musculoskeletal pain — and Hinge Health is on a mission to help them move beyond it. Our TrueMotion computer vision technology turns everyday mobile devices into powerful motion-tracking tools, giving members real-time feedback and guidance as they work through personalized exercise therapy. The CV User Experience team is responsible for making that magic feel effortless: building deeply interactive, TrueMotion-driven features that monitor movement, coach performance, and track recovery progress.
We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to serve as the technical leader for this team — someone who can architect end-to-end systems across mobile and backend, tackle complex scaling challenges, and raise the bar on engineering quality. If you're passionate about building high-quality software that directly improves people's health outcomes, this is your role.
In your first 3 months:
Ramp into the CV User Experience stack (React Native, TypeScript, NestJS, GraphQL, AWS) and build relationships with product managers, designers, data scientists, and computer vision scientists.
Deliver your first end-to-end feature while auditing the current architecture for scaling and performance bottlenecks.
In your first 6 months:
Own and lead architectural discussions for TrueMotion-driven experiences, proactively identifying challenges and proposing innovative solutions to complex mobile and full-stack engineering problems.
Establish stronger system observability using Datadog and Sentry, improving monitoring, logging, and error tracking across the full stack.
Profile systems to stay ahead of scaling and performance bottlenecks, ensuring a fast, responsive mobile experience for users.
In your first year:
Act as the primary technical leader for the team's architecture — designing robust, end-to-end solutions including performant APIs, mobile application architecture, and data models that are the foundation for TrueMotion's next generation.
Mentor engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement through thoughtful code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
Every quarter, identify, propose, and execute a significant upgrade or innovative change to the team's workflow, tooling, or architecture.
A Force Multiplier: You don't just ship great code — you improve the team's overall architecture, developer tooling, and practices, making everyone around you more effective.
A Learn-it-all: You stay at the forefront of mobile development, computer vision UX, and AI-powered developer tools. You bring "only-now-possible" ideas to the team and turn them into shipped capabilities.
Accountable: You take owner-operator pride in your code in production. You meet commitments, estimate well, and don't stop before solving the last 10–20% where the messy edge cases lie.
A Trust Builder: You communicate effectively across engineering, product, design, and data science teams to align on shared goals. You explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a way that is understandable and not condescending.
Hands-On Leader: You lead at all levels — architecting systems and writing code, reviewing PRs and mentoring engineers, thinking quarters ahead and unblocking teammates today.

2+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience working in distributed systems and microservices architectures
Hands-on experience with generative AI tools to accelerate development workflows, improve code quality, and streamline debugging
3+ years of experience building and shipping mobile applications using React Native
Experience with event-driven architectures and tools such as Apache Kafka
Proficiency with observability tools such as Datadog and Sentry
Strong understanding of system design principles, mobile application architecture, and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with computer vision–driven user experiences on mobile platforms
Demonstrated track record of mentoring engineers and leading architectural discussions across teams
Proficiency in both English and French is an asset
