The American Housing Corporation is developing a prefabricated, panelized residential product platform. We seek a hands-on MEP Systems Engineer to lead the end-to-end development of standardized, repeatable mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
This role is not traditional consulting; it requires full ownership from concept, modeling, documentation, and prototyping through field implementation and commissioning.
System Architecture: Define and lead the MEP strategy, establishing repeatable system archetypes (e.g., heat pump configurations, distribution) aligned with energy efficiency and indoor air quality targets and codes.
Integration: Ensure seamless MEP integration with the building envelope, panelized wall/floor systems, and collaborate cross-functionally with Architecture, Structural, Manufacturing, and Construction.
Engineering Production: Directly produce or oversee all MEP engineering deliverables, including load calculations, Revit/BIM modeling, system diagrams, specifications, and permit-ready drawings.
Prefabrication/DfMA: Align MEP systems with panelized construction, defining factory vs. field components, routing, and standardized interfaces for repeatable, efficient production.
Field Engagement: Participate directly in prototyping, hands-on installation, system validation, and refinement based on field learnings. Develop installation instructions.
Commissioning/QA/QC: Lead commissioning (balancing, startup) and develop QA/QC, inspection, and testing protocols for continuous performance improvement.
Standardization: Translate designs into a repeatable platform with standard details, layouts, and scalable configurations.
Consultant Coordination: Manage external MEP consultants, ensuring alignment with AHC standards.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
8–15+ years of experience in MEP engineering, preferably residential/multifamily.
Proven ability to perform calculations, produce permit-ready drawings, and work in BIM/Revit.
Required Mindset: Hands-on engineer/builder willing to engage in field installation and prototyping; strong systems thinker focused on scalable, repeatable solutions.
Preferred: Experience with high-performance buildings, electrification, prefabrication, commissioning, and multi-state codes. Professional licensure.
