We are seeking a highly adaptable Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to support a growing outsourced CFO and accounting services practice. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who brings an independent, owner’s mindset and is comfortable handling both day-to-day bookkeeping and higher-level accounting and financial oversight. The ideal candidate is hands-on and understands the importance of foundational accounting tasks such as journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close. They should also be capable of taking on controller-level responsibilities as the firm grows. This role offers a long-term growth path with potential team management opportunities.
Schedule:
• Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm EST / 9 am to 6 pm EST
Responsibilities:
• Perform and oversee daily accounting operations ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Execute and review bookkeeping activities including journal entries, bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable support, and month-end close
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and management reports
• Support historical clean-up projects and accounting process improvements
• Develop, document, and refine accounting procedures and standard operating playbooks
• Work directly with internal leadership and clients in a professional, client-facing capacity
• Utilize accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online and Ramp (Bill.com experience is a plus)
• Serve as a flexible "utility player" managing both detailed accounting work and higher-level analysis
• Prepare to support or manage additional team members as the firm grows (people management experience is a plus but not required)
Skills and Qualifications:
• 5+ years of progressive US accounting experience in roles like Assistant Controller, Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proven experience with both bookkeeping-level and managerial/controller-level accounting work
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel
• Experience creating reconciliations, consolidated schedules, and work papers
• CPA license or active pursuit of CPA is a plus
• Industry experience in Real Estate, Healthcare, Food Manufacturing, or Tech preferred
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
