Academic Enterprise Communications is seeking a creative and strategic Multimedia Producer to serve as the storytelling engine behind key Provost Office priority areas, including the Institute of Politics, academic innovation initiatives, and the future of higher education. This role goes beyond documenting events. It requires journalistic instinct, production skill and the confidence and maturity to operate in rooms with nationally recognized leaders. The ideal candidate understands how to distill complex conversations into engaging Reels, digital shorts and visual content that extends the reach and impact of each event.
This position plays a key role in positioning ASU as a national hub for civic dialogue and academic innovation.
Essential Duties:
Event-Based Multimedia ProductionÂ
Attend signature events that align with provost priorities to capture photo and video content.
Produce short-form vertical video optimized for Instagram, YouTube and emerging platforms.
Conduct brief on-site interviews with speakers, faculty and students.
Capture authentic, unscripted moments that enhance institutional storytelling.
Work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules during peak seasons, rather than a traditional 9-5.
Short-Form Digital StorytellingÂ
Transform long-form talks into compelling clips and digital highlights.
Identify strong pull quotes and impactful moments in real time.
Develop recurring content formats that build audience recognition and engagement.
Contribute to a content calendar that sustains momentum between events.
Strategic Production & Editorial ThinkingÂ
Approach each initiative with a production mindset: define the story, determine key assets and plan distribution strategy.
Support development of a growing digital repository of thought leadership content.
Help determine which events warrant full recording versus recap-style coverage.
Collaboration & Capacity BuildingÂ
Coordinate with student contributors or interns to scale coverage efforts.
Work closely with writers, designers and senior communications staff to align content with Provost Office priorities.
Support multimedia storytelling for Provost leadership retreats, academic innovation initiatives and website enhancements throughout the year.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience creating engaging short-form video content for student or emerging audiences.
Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut or similar editing platforms.
Experience filming in live event settings.Â
Strong on-camera presence and comfort interacting with high-profile guests and senior leadership.Â
Strong editorial judgment and ability to identify compelling story angles quickly.
Experience working in higher education, public affairs or political environments preferred.
Portfolio of video work required.
Working Environment:
Youâll be based in the lively, collaborative environment of the Centerpoint Building on ASUâs Tempe campusâbut your day-to-day will often take you across all ASU locations, connecting with students where they live, learn, and thrive. We will give you a home base, but expect you to be where the story is happening. AEComms embraces flexible work arrangements, including hybrid schedules and alternative hours, in accordance with ASU policies. Please note that this role is not eligible for full-time remote work.
