Under the supervision of the Group Exercise Manager, the Group Exercise Instructor willoverseeand support all assigned classes. In this role, you will collaborate with leadership and Exercise Physiologists to help clients achieve goals and improve their overall quality of life. Your ability to meet medical needs, problem-solveandidentifyavenues for improvement can make a difference in the lives of patients every day.
A caregiver in this position works varying shifts between 5:30AM – 10:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Greet members and guests with a smile and deliver world-class service at all times.
Arrive ten minutes ahead of time to prepare classroom and music.
Screen class for new members and instruct newcomers on class content.
Refer members withpossible limitations(including injuries and/or medication being taken) to a fitness staff member,manageror physical therapist for further direction.
Follow scheduled class format according toLifeStylesclass descriptions within the designated class time.
Provideclasswith professionalpresentationandinstruction.
Receive approval from Group Exercise Manager for choreography, musicselection, movement and breathing techniques andutilizationof equipment.
Refermembers with questionsregardingexercise to the professional fitness staff.
Operate A/V equipment and music with care.
Complete accident/injury report whenappropriateandsubmitto theLifeStylesDirector, Group Exercise Manager and Manager on duty.
Return all exercise equipment to proper storage and make sure all exercise equipment and studio floor/pool deckisclean for the next class.
Attend scheduled staff meetings and bi-annualLifeStylesmeetings.
Complete mandatory education and trainingin order tomaintainorganization anddepartmentspecific competencies and requirements.
Maintain applicable certification/licensure.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School graduate or the equivalent
One Group Exercise certification from an organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) including but not limited to: American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA)or National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
For Specialty formats,appropriate certification/licenseas dictated by format
Current CPR certification
Work experience with Zumba, Tabata Bootcamp, Pilates (e.g., Stott, Balanced Body, NETA), Aqua (e.g., Aquatics Exercise Association (AEA) and Arthritis Foundation), Group Cycling (e.g., Keiser, NETA, Spinning) or Martial Arts-based class (e.g., Turbo Kick, AFAA, NETA)
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work variable hours
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
First aid certification
Aqua or yoga experience
Experience teaching classes
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
