Job Description:
ASU TRIO Programs seeks a Coordinator for the Talent Search for TS program. Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Coordinator develops, implements, and oversees secondary and postsecondary academic advising components as well as coordinates the tutorial/lab components and workshops, conducts academic testing for all program participants, provides âCollege Planningâ course instruction, monitors academic progress, prepares for and conducts âHigh School/College Successâ parent/participant conferences, compiles and analyzes statistical data, and assists in various other related duties such as coordinating with and supporting other ASU TRIO programs which generate in providing participants with skills and the motivation necessary to enter and complete a program of secondary and postsecondary education.
The ideal candidate must work well in a fastâpaced, flexible environment, provide a high level of customer service to both the university and external communities, and make strong contributions both as an individual and as a team player.
Days and Schedule: Incumbent may be required to travel to off-campus events and other ASU campuse as needed, transportation will not be provided by the department/ASU. This position is a full time position from Monday thru Friday 8AM to 5PM, evenings and weekends may be occasionally be required.
Flexible work arrangements are available in an alternative or hybrid schedule but will be based on the work and the needs of the university and department operations and pending leadership approval.

Essential Duties:
Prepare for and implement the annual student recruitment cycle and orientation of program participants and parents.
Develop, implement, and oversee the high school academic advising component. (i.e., monitor high school progress of participants towards graduation and postsecondary admission requirements, supervise supplemental instruction program, develop and maintain working relationships with high schools and postsecondary institutions, arrange and conduct academic progress meetings with participants and their instructors/counselors, maintain academic files, advise program staff on participantsâ academic status and needs, prepare data reports regarding academics).
Coordinate the tutorial/lab components; train, supervise and evaluate assigned staff.
Organize, coordinate and conduct pertinent academic testing for all program participants as required; gather, evaluate, analyze and report testing data.
Teach the programâs âCollege Planningâ courses; prepare curriculum, assignments, classroom activities and materials including FAFSA and financial literacy components.
Plan, coordinate and execute enrichment activities that will foster and encourage personal (i.e., intellectual, cultural, and social) development as well as help solidify the participantsâ desire/pursuit of a postsecondary education.
Prepare for and conduct âHigh School/College Successâ parent/participant conferences as well as assist with the coordination of parent/participant workshops.
Direct and implement retention and tracking data-gathering activities pertaining to program past participants; compile statistical data and prepare data analysis reports.
Develop, implement, and oversee postsecondary academic advising and financial assistance components.
Assist the Program Director in preparing proposals and reports as required by the U.S. Department of Education, Arizona State University, and other organizations.
Present workshops for community, university, state and/or regional/national associations.
Serve on university committees and participate in local, state and regional/national professional organizations.
Research, develop, implement and assess programs

Develop and deliver presentations to groups
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Position requires work on weekends and evenings. Altered weekly work schedule, minimum of 40 hours per week.
General work schedule is:
At ASU: Mondays through Fridays, 8AM-5PM, some evenings, weekends and holidays.
At target high schools: Mondays through Fridays, 7:30AM-4:30PM, some evenings, weekends and holidays.
Special events including field trips may take place through the year requiring one to work all day.
Primary work location is on the ASU West campus, however work for this position may
occur at target high schools within the Glendale Union High School District.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with TRIO, educational equity organizations and/or similar college preparatory programs
Experience with youth from middle/junior high to high school (i.e., youth at least 11 years of age and older); grades 8th to 12th
Experience with diverse populations particularly those from low-income family backgrounds and first-generation to attend postsecondary institutions
Knowledgeable on high school curriculum and administrative procedures as well as university admission process
Demonstrated knowledge about financial aid, such as FAFSA and scholarships
Experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the program's target population
Masterâs degree in student affairs, higher education or related field
Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills including use of MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Bookings, Teams, Publisher, Access), social media (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, etc.), G Suite (e.g., Google Drive, Gmail, Hangouts, etc.), Canva, and ASU computer systems (e.g., Peoplesoft, Salesforce, Canvas, Zoom, Slack, Cisco Jabber, etc.)
Evidence of effective oral and written communication skills
Bilingual English/Spanish â speak, read, and write
Experience with completing assigned projects in a timely manner and work well under priority deadlines
Experience with grant writing, preferably federal grants
Experience in planning, scheduling, and supervising the work of others
