The Section of Clinical Cardiology isoften timesthe area where patients first have access to specialized inpatient and outpatient heart care and long-term management of their conditions. We offer the latest innovations in cardiac care and clinical therapies to patients of all ages. We providestate-of-the-arttests and procedures to help makean accuratediagnosis and create a treatment plan. We see patients withvery commonheart problems, such as angina, artery problems, valvular heart disease, and heart failure. We also treat patients with somevery rareforms of heart disease, including those who have been told by other doctors that their condition cannot be treated.
By joining the Cardiology team at Indian River Hospital’s Rosner Family Health and Wellness Center as a Medical Assistant, you will collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients,familiesand visitors. You willinteractwith around 24 patients per day andassistwith medication management, patient monitoring, administrativetasksand more. A caregiver in this position worksMonday-Fridayfrom 8:00AM – 4:30PMor 8:30AM –5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assistwith performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance,identifyingmedication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performingtestsand documenting patient care.
Monitor andcommunicatechanges in patient condition.
Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider.
Maintain equipment, medicalsuppliesand examination areas.
Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, dataentryand patient registration.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting Program
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crossupon hire or within new hire period
Military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) considered
Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience
Currentdemonstratedclinicalproficiency
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Medical Assisting certification(CMA, NCMA or CCMA)
Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinicexternship
Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
