Job Summary:
You will report directly to the Engineering Supervisor – I/E to provide on-site instrumentation and controls expertise. The Instrument and Control Systems Specialist is responsible for providing clearly defined and technically sound drawings from the conceptual stage through to finished, detailed construction drawings. In addition, you will enhance the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly operations of the nitrogen fertilizer plants through collaborative efforts with other engineering disciplines, operations, maintenance, contractors, and EHS to ensure solutions meet overall business objectives.
You will:
Create and develop instrumentation designs from field instrumentation through to DCS integration by analyzing technical problems, field checking, specifying applicable equipment, and developing cost and scheduling estimates.
Ensure design safety by incorporating CF standards, regulatory requirements, and sound engineering design practices, and act as an Instrument and Control resource to the engineering & maintenance departments.
Ensure that detailed and concise engineering drawings and construction scopes are provided for construction purposes.
Maintain up-to-date drawings and equipment specifications by ensuring that existing drawings are updated.
Participate in MOCs, PHAs, LOPA studies, and incident investigations, and support implementation of process safety and other EHS solutions.
Review and/or lead small, single-discipline projects to increase reliability, productivity, efficiency, and/or enhance EHS performance.
Provide expertise and input on long-term reliability initiatives.
Coordinate field execution in partnership with on-site maintenance and/or external vendors.
Liaise with onsite personnel to ensure that projects are constructed safely, accurately, economically, and on time through commissioning and handover to operations.
Actively support and participate in all EH&S initiatives and activities.
Collaborate with the Site Electrical Engineer to integrate Electrical and DCS/Controls initiatives.

You Have:
Graduated from an accredited technical college or equivalent knowledge and experience with a minimum of 5 - 7 years of instrumentation and controls experience related to process control, DCS, PLCs, and field instrumentation, including P&IDs, loop drawings, specification sheets, and single line electrical documentation; or
BS degree in Process Control Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5- 7years related experience.
Familiar with national and local government codes, regulations, and standards.
