OVERVIEW OFJOB
TheWater Utility Workerperforms entry-level manual labor andassistswith routinemaintenance and unskilled manual tasks in the maintenance, repair, testing, calibration, inspection, installation and replacement of water meters and associated devices for the Support Services Division – Field Service Section of the Aurora Water Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs routine, minor repair and replacement of large water meters (1½” – 12”)
Performs non-complex equipment maintenance
Assistswiththe installation,repairand maintenance of water meters
Assistswiththe set-up and break down of alternate water source connections
Performs minor pit maintenance and re-construction of damaged meter pits
Operates andassistsin the maintenance of hand and power tools,vehiclesand equipment
Create and close outserviceorders properly onSpryPoint
Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience thatdemonstratesrequired knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
High school diploma or GED
Experience:
One (1) year of experience in manual labor, construction, maintenance, or a related field
Knowledge:
Basic knowledge of water utility systems, meter operations, and applicable safety procedures
Understanding of hand tools and their uses
Skills:
Skill in basic mechanical troubleshooting and the use of hand and power tools
Skill in accurately recording and entering work data in electronic systems
Abilities:
Ability to follow established safety procedures and use protective equipment
Ability to learn and apply technical procedures related to water meter systems
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and the public
Ability tooperateor receive training onvarious typesof maintenance and construction equipment
Ability to recognize hazards
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Valid Colorado driver’s license and ability tooperatea city vehicle, or otherwisedemonstrateability to meet the transportation requirements of the position
