Facilities Development and Management, FM KE Facilities Services, MacroTechnology Works (MTW), seeks an experienced Senior Engineer with knowledge of Power Distribution systems within a robust mission critical manufacturing environment, specifically either Semiconductor Manufacturing or Mission Critical Datacenter facilities. This person will have specific working knowledge in interfacing owner’s representative to Salt River Project. The Senior Engineer will have experience with 12KV and 4,170V distribution systems.
The position will be required to learn the existing distribution system by reviewing documentation and working with ASU Site Facilities engineering team and site electricians. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for the upkeep of the site single line diagram and the existing site electrical panel schedule database. The Senior Engineer will work with ASU and tenant electrical contractor(s) in reviewing Arc Flash calculations and ensuring that the proper Electrical Safety Protocols are addressed, implemented, and followed. The engineer will be responsible for working with peers from outside consulting firms to help guide and review their proposed designs for modification to the facility. The engineer will assist the operations team with developing the operational budget for the systems that they own and develop plans for improving the operations costs of the system.
The Senior Engineer will represent ASU in design reviews of facilities base build and semiconductor tool installations. The Senior Engineer will also advise on best practices for facilities maintenance of the electrical equipment on site. The Senior Engineer will look for and present cost savings ideas to Facilities management for site operations improvements.
The desired candidate should be a registered professional engineer (PE) in the State of Arizona (or able to obtain registration within six months of hire) and highly knowledgeable with the International Building Codes and the National Electrical Code, specifically with application in “H Type” occupancies. Must be proficient in the use of Bluebeam to help with drawing development and design reviews.
Essential Duties:
Assist with design reviews of the electrical distribution systems for ongoing and upcoming projects.
Sign off on new electrical distribution installations and the installation of new and/or relocated equipment.
Advise site leadership on necessary electrical system improvements including working with site Facilities teams in developing long term reliability plans and capital improvement plans.
Work with operations staff to develop and improve upon the existing electrical maintenance program for the site, including a transition from preventative to predictive maintenance.
Act as site liaison to Salt River Project including planning and coordination of electrical maintenance and outage activities.
Maintain, update, and assign circuits from MTW’s electrical panel database.
Maintain or work with ASU CAD resources to update single line drawings.

Days and Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. May be required to work extended daily or weekend hours depending on activities at site.
This position is based at ASU’s MacroTechnology Work’s site and may require working from other campuses depending on operational needs.
Position Salary Range:
$140,000 to $150,000 ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona.
Desired Qualifications:
Ten (10) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field. Professional Engineering Registration in the State of Arizona or the ability to obtain within six months of hire. Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
Evidence of:
Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical distribution systems to assess and adjust or modify to achieve maximum efficiency.
Establish and track overall site capacities and work with management to plan timely upgrades.
Effective communication skills
Experience in:
Facilities Operational Engineering role in an advanced semiconductor cleanroom (class 10/100, ISO Class 4/5).
Maintaining, updating and assigning circuit assignments from an electric panel database.
Coordinating electric panel studies and reviewing results to manage facility capacities.
Conducting design reviews of facility electrical distribution systems for site improvement and tool installation projects.
Providing recommendations on necessary electrical system improvements and developing long term reliability plans.
Developing RFPs/RFQs (request for proposals/quotes)
Knowledge of:
Principles of operation of cleanrooms and mechanical systems.
Local, state, and federal codes, regulation, and mandates- especially building codes and the National Electrical Code.
“H Occupancy” requirements per the International Building Codes.
Working Environment:
Activities are performed in environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
Outdoors in an uncontrolled environment subject to excessive heat or cold, wind, weather, etc.
Advanced research laboratory environments containing hazardous chemicals and processes.
Low hazard cleanrooms involving potential exposure to low hazard chemicals, gases and processes.
Advanced H5 (high Hazard) occupancies utilizing extremely toxic and hazardous gases, chemicals and processes.
Standing for varying lengths of time and walking moderate distances to perform work.
Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds.
May be exposed to hazardous and dangerous materials, tools, and equipment which will require safety precautions and/or specific process to be followed and may include the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (e.g. gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, garments, face coverings, and hardhat).
Will involve extended periods of time in cleanroom environment, wearing appropriate cleanroom garb, to include full cleanroom suit, hair net, face mask, gloves, shoe/foot coverings, etc.
Drives university vehicles.
