Mercy Hospitalâs 28-bed Medical/Surgical Unit is a specialized unit that focuses on providing care for both telemetry andobservationpatients. Half of the rooms on this unit are private. This unit is typicallyfast-pacedand allows our caregivers to assess, diagnose, and treat medical concerns with non-invasive methods.As an RN Resident, you will work with fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. Â

A caregiver in this position worksnightsfrom7:00PM â 7:30AM, with rotating weekend and holidayrequirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:Â
Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.Â
Provide direct nursing care alongside asuccesscoach.Â
Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patientpreferenceand resource availability).Â
Respond to data indicating risk to patientsâ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.Â
Seek supervision,consultationandassistancewhen unable to perform safely and independently.Â
Documentinpatientsâ medical records.Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing(Diploma,ADNor BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
BachelorâsofScience inNursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
