The Associate Manager is tasked with integrating sustainability initiatives into core business operations through leading various cross-functional projects. A key area of responsibility is the comprehensive oversight of the ESG data lifecycle, which includes managing analytical dashboards and ensuring that all corporate disclosures adhere to evolving global regulatory standards.This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Northbrook, IL office with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
A day in the life as an ESG Compliance and Reporting Associate Manager ...
Project Management:
Lead cross-functional ESG projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.
Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., DCs, stores, legal, finance, HR) to integrate ESG initiatives into broader company strategies and operational plans.
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and deliverables, providing regular progress updates to leadership.
Facilitates quarterly meetings with ESG pillar leads
Data Analytics & Reporting:
Oversee the collection, validation, and analysis of ESG data across multiple functions.
Create and maintain ESG reporting dashboards and data models to track progress against targets and KPIs.
Prepare and deliver high-quality ESG reports, presentations, and disclosures to senior management.
Monitor emerging ESG trends and regulations to ensure the company’s reporting remains up-to-date and in alignment with industry best practices.
Compliance & Policy
Regulatory Scanning: Monitor and interpret emerging sustainability regulations (e.g., EPR, CSRD, California’s SB 253/261).
Compliance Integration: Work with Legal, Finance and Brand teams to ensure all sustainability claims and filings meet jurisdictional requirements.
Internal Policy: Assist in developing and updating internal sustainability policies.
What you’ll bring to the table…
Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategy, sustainability, or corporate social responsibility, with a strong focus on reporting and data analytics.
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work.
Advanced knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD) and familiarity with ESG data management tools and platforms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ESG information to diverse stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a strong ability to manage data accuracy and integrity.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
