As a Physical Therapist Aide at Westlake Therapy Services, you will perform various departmental duties andassistwith treatment programs. You willwork alongside an overseeing Therapist as you provide direct patient care and supportive services. This role is an excellent entry into the Respiratory Therapy field, offering a wealth of development opportunities and hands-onexperiencewith some of the best caregivers in healthcare.
A caregiver in this position worksfull-time| 4-10s or 5-8s| travel between Westlake Therapy Services and Middleburge HeightsFHC.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Carry out departmental duties and treatment programs that are delegatedforadolescent,adultand/or geriatric patients.
Inform the Department Manager or Senior Therapist of any equipment malfunctions or perceived safety hazards.
Clean,maintainand stocksupplies.
Maintaina clean gym area and treatment rooms.
Assistwith care ofpatientsunder the direct supervision and direction of the Physical or Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Inform the therapist of any ill response by the patient andmaintainpatient confidentiality and modesty at all times.
Assistin directing volunteers.
Transport patients to and fromphysical andoccupationaldepartments.
Ensure safety of self and patient when transporting/transferring patients.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
