Job Summary: This position is responsible for the technical solutions delivered by the Combat Training Centre-Live Instrumented Systems program, ensuring that solutions innovatively win the customer, align with the business strategy and deliver superior value and return to our customers and the end user. Incumbents of this position will communicate the technical vision for the CTC-LIS Program and manage the technical roadmaps and architecture to deliver innovative performance based training outcomes.
This role acts as the overall technical manager for CTC-LIS engineer, technical, project management and deep maintenance teams, gatekeeper for design reviews, external interface to international technical engagement, development and control of technology roadmaps, communications across the CTC-LIS technical leadership team.
Incumbents of this position operate under limited supervision and direction and regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads the CTC-LIS engineering, technical team, Project Managers and deep maintenance team to deliver technical solutions for the Program
Actively contributes to the CDAus Management and ITS Management activities to ensure optimum results for the Program
Liaise and co-ordinate with other engineering centres within Cubic to ensure cohesion with CTC-LIS efforts
Ensure the development of an obsolescence plan for CTC-LIS based upon inputs from CDNZ
Undertakes timely selection of replacement staff while fostering an environment conducive to staff retention
Trains and develops team members to improve individual and organisational performance
Manages direct reports to ensure they have regularly monitored performance and development plans in compliance with company processes
Provides ongoing staff performance feedback, guidance and coaching
Leads efforts to seek best customer solutions across CTC-LIS proposals, innovation, technology roadmaps and projects.
Supports business development with technology road mapping and product management to align with customer needs
Supports development of a realistic Technical refresh and managed services plan that is in line with CTC-LIS and CDAus strategy and goals.
As part of the CTC-LIS Leadership Team feeds into strategies for growth – organically, through innovation, support and acquisition.
Develops strategic technical business relationships
Responsible for management of the CTC-LIS’s innovation roadmap and process in support of continuous improvement and effecincy (CIE) objectives.
Responsible for achieving overall CIE goals, to include meeting customer co-funding for innovation.
Develops the CIE, technical and innovation plan, to include managing the origination, research, evaluation and development of CIE innovations that align with CDAus and CTC-LIS strategy.
Leads project, innovation, technical refresh, and managed services meetings, and mentors teams through the processes, coordinating effective communication between teams and senior management.
Identify critical partnerships to achieve innovation outcomes.
Ensures alignment between engineerings, project managers, technical team and the other departments of CTC-LIS.
Lead special projects as assigned
Develops and maintains customer/partner relationships that ensure optimal engagement, and return to the company.
Leads and establishes a safety culture among the engineering team by following all rules and procedures, reporting that promotes safe work practices
Actively contributes to, and participates in, company health and safety initiatives

Minimum Job Requirements:
Qualifications
Tertiary degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
Advanced engineering degree or commercial qualification is desirable.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
Minimum of twelve years of related technical or engineering experience including ten years of project engineering/management, program management / supervisory responsibility.
Must have experience in Commonwealth procurement processes.
Must have proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, communicate technical vision and develop technology/product roadmaps
Proven ability to analyse, design and implement efficient engineering business processes.
Ability to work under deadlines and associated cost/schedule constraints.
