The Liaison serves as the primary communication bridge between Universal Logistics and GM at the Lake Orion Assembly facility. This role ensures alignment on production needs, daily priorities, quality expectations, and operational issues. The Liaison maintains strong, solutions-driven communication, coordinates issue resolution, and supports seamless interaction between Universal operations and GM counterparts. This position plays a critical role in protecting customer satisfaction, supporting materialâflow stability, and ensuring both organizations remain aligned on key initiatives, KPIs, and expectations.
Act as the central point of contact between Universal Logistics and GM for all dayâtoâday operational communication.
Communicate production needs, changes, issues, and materialâflow requirements to Universal operations leaders.
Support daily GM meetings, production reviews, and rapid-response escalations.
Track operational concerns (shortages, quality issues, delays) and ensure timely followâup and resolution.
Maintain clear documentation of customer requests, direction changes, and action items.
Build and sustain a strong, professional relationship with GM representatives to support collaboration and trust.
Provide accurate updates on material status, delivery timing, and sequencing/kitting performance.
Coordinate cross-functional communication between GM, Universal operations, engineering, and quality teams.
Assist with KPI reporting, performance reviews, and customer-driven initiatives.
Support launch activities, engineering changes, and process updates that require crossâcommunication between the organizations.
3+ years of experience in logistics, warehousing, automotive operations, or customer-facing roles.
Strong communication and relationshipâbuilding skills with the ability to represent Universal professionally.
Knowledge of material flow, sequencing, kitting, JIT/JIS, and automotive production support.
Experience working with OEM or Tierâ1 customers preferred.
Proficiency in WMS/ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and KPI reporting.
Strong problemâsolving skills with the ability to manage escalations and drive timely resolution.
Highly organized, detailâoriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fastâpaced environment.
Flexible to support various shifts or attend customer meetings as required.
