Job Description:
Your Role: What Youâll Do
As a Registered Nurse Coordinator, youâll play a central role in guiding patients through every phase of their oncology journey. This is an ideal role for an experienced oncology nurse who enjoys care coordination, patient education, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Education and Support
- Educate patients and families on chemotherapy and immunotherapy
- Provide guidance, reassurance, and clear communication throughout treatment
Care Coordination
- Prepare patients for treatment initiation, including:
- Pre-treatment staging
- Laboratory work and diagnostic testing
- Venous access placement
Collaborative Care
- Serve as a clinical liaison between BIDMC Boston and BID Needham providers
- Support Hematology/Oncology physicians and nurse practitioners with:
- Telephone triage
- Medication prescription renewals
- Outside laboratory ordering
Referrals and Partnerships
- Coordinate care with:
- Visiting Nurse Association (VNA)
- Hospice and home care agencies
- Cardiology, Endocrinology, Genetics, Nutrition, Social Work, Physical Therapy, and Palliative Care
Operational Excellence
- Assist with pre-authorization processes
- Ensure accurate scheduling of consultations, diagnostics, and treatments
- Perform patient assessments and collect clinical histories
- Participate in rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives
- Contribute to process and care delivery improvements in outpatient oncology
What Weâre Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Associateâs Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- 3â5 years of related nursing experience
- Oncology nursing experience
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and web-based applications
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Outpatient oncology experience
- Care coordination or nurse navigator experience

Compensation
Hourly Pay Range:Â $39.14 â $101.14
