The AI orchestration of your wildest imagination.
n8n is the open workflow orchestration platform built for the new era of AI. We give technical teams the freedom of code with the speed of no-code, so they can automate faster, smarter, and without limits. Backed by a fiercely inventive community and 500+ builder-approved integrations, we’re changing the way people bring systems together and scale ideas for impact.
Since our founding in 2019, we’ve grown into a diverse team of over 220 - working across Europe and the US, connected by a shared builder spirit and with our centre of gravity in Berlin. Along the way, we’ve:
Cultivated a community of more than 650,000 active developers and builders
Earned 145k+ GitHub stars, making us one of the world’s Top 40 most popular projects
Been ranked as one of Europe’s most promising privately held SaaS startups (4th in Sifted’s 2025 B2B SaaS Rising 100)
Raised $240m to date, from Sequoia’s first German seed to our recent $180m Series C - bringing us to a $2.5bn valuation
That’s the company we’ve built. Now we’d love to see what you can build. If you’re applying, try n8n out - whether you’re technical or not - and share a screenshot of your first workflow with us. The easiest place to start is here: app.n8n.cloud/register.
We’re in a defining moment of an incredible journey. Come and build with us.
This is a transformation role, not a maintenance role. You will build n8n's accounting and tax function from the ground up: insourcing operations from an external bookkeeper, standing up multi-entity accounting across Germany, the US, and the UK, leading an IFRS conversion (target 2027), and selecting and implementing a new ERP. You will inherit a small, growing team and shape it into a high-performing, AI-augmented function that can support n8n through its next stage of growth, including a potential IPO.
This is not a role where accounting infrastructure is already in place and you keep it running. Processes need to be built. Controls need to be designed. Documentation is thin. If you thrive on building from a blank page with real autonomy and high visibility to leadership, this is your role.
Own end-to-end accounting across AP, AR, GL, fixed assets, accruals, and deferrals for all entities, with full accountability for accuracy and timeliness.
Lead the full insourcing of core accounting from the external bookkeeper within your first three months, capturing processes, SLAs, and controls to ensure zero disruption.
Drive a reliable, repeatable monthly close, targeting below 5 days (always dreamed about zero day close?), with a documented close calendar and clear ownership.
Lead group consolidation (intercompany eliminations, FX translation, reporting packages) and enforce consistent accounting policies across all legal entities.
Own the IFRS conversion roadmap: identify HGB-to-IFRS gaps, build transition policies, and prepare the function for group reporting under IFRS from 2027.
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, coordinate statutory audits, and lead selection of the group auditor.
Design a tax-efficient group structure that supports scalable international growth across existing and future entities.
Ensure VAT/GST and indirect tax compliance across all markets and mitigate permanent establishment risks.
Establish transfer pricing frameworks, intercompany agreements, and tax documentation in collaboration with external advisors.
Stand up accounting operations for the UK and US entities (in-house or via local partners) and onboard qualified tax advisors for both jurisdictions.
Build a robust internal control framework aligned with audit readiness and future capital markets requirements.
Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors, acting as the primary interface.
Co-lead ERP evaluation, selection, and implementation alongside the Finance Systems team to deliver a scalable finance automation stack.
Drive automation of routine entries, approvals, and reconciliations, targeting 50% or more of routine processes automated within 12 months.
Champion AI adoption within the accounting function, using it to accelerate close, improve accuracy, and free the team for higher-value work.
Lead and develop a team of accountants with a builder-coach mindset, owning hiring, onboarding, and development as the team scales.
Partner closely with FP&A (financial reporting, cash forecasting), RevOps (quote-to-cash), People (payroll/benefits), and Legal (entity/compliance) on cross-functional initiatives.
Prepare the accounting, tax, and control environment for future milestones including a potential IPO.
Senior accounting leadership in high-growth SaaS: 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a B2B SaaS environment with multi-entity, multi-currency operations. You have built or significantly scaled an accounting function, not just maintained one.
IFRS and SaaS revenue expertise: Strong international accounting knowledge, including SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606/IFRS 15), recurring billing, intercompany accounting, and group consolidation. Experience with an IFRS conversion or dual-GAAP environment is a strong signal.
German GAAP and local tax knowledge: Hands-on experience with HGB financial statement preparation and German tax compliance (VAT, corporate tax, trade tax).
Process and control builder: You are known for designing and scaling accounting processes, accelerating close cycles, and raising quality in fast-growing, under-documented environments. You bring structure without bureaucracy.
External advisor and auditor management: Proven ability to manage relationships with statutory auditors, tax advisors, and external service providers across multiple jurisdictions. You know how to get value from advisors without becoming dependent on them.
AI and automation fluency: You actively use AI tools (LLMs, automation platforms, intelligent workflows) in your daily work to accelerate output, improve accuracy, or reduce manual effort. Not theoretical interest; demonstrated practice.
Leadership and communication: Strong judgment, analytical rigor, and clear communication in English. You work effectively in distributed, async-first, cross-border teams and can translate accounting complexity into business language.
Big 4 audit background: Foundational experience at a major audit firm that shaped your rigor and methodology.
Formal qualifications: Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent commercial training such as Bilanzbuchhalter, Steuerberater, or Tax Clerk.
Scale-up to IPO experience: You have operated in a company that went through rapid scaling and/or IPO preparation, and you understand what the finance function needs to look like at each stage.
Workflow automation experience: Familiarity with workflow automation tools (ideally n8n, but Make, Zapier, or similar may also count) and/or experience building finance-specific automations.
At n8n, you will not just "run accounting." You will build the financial backbone of one of Europe's fastest-growing AI and developer-first SaaS companies.
Here is what makes this role different:
Real building mandate: Insource accounting within 3 months, deliver a sub-5-day close within 12 months, lead an IFRS conversion by 2027,
