About the Role
The Facility Engineer Co‑op supports the Facilities Engineering team in the planning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of building systems and infrastructure. This role provides hands‑on experience with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, utilities, and building automation systems whileassistingwith technical projects, documentation, and facility performance analysis.
This position is ideal for engineering students pursuing a career in facilities engineering, mechanical systems, reliability engineering, or operations support.
WhatYou’llDo
At Axcelis, you will work with multiple positions within the Facilities department, exposing you to work at all levels of the department, such as:
Facilities EngineerLevel –
Perform preventative maintenance (PM) itemsandinspectionsusing aComputerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Perform machinery space rounds, equipment rotation,andsystemmonitoring
RO/DIskid,Grade4IWastewater Treatment Plant, Process Water
Assistin troubleshootingand unexpected repairsofmechanical,electrical,plumbing and HVACsystemswithlicensed technicians
Supervisor Level –
Oversee day-to-daysiteoperation
Grounds, Security &Janitorialneeds
Special events,hazards,operations
Operate andmonitormultiple sites usingtheBuildingManagement System (BMS)
LifeSafetysystems–sprinklers,fire/toxic alarm systems,toxic exhaust,emergency powerdistribution
Central Utility Building (CUB) Boiler/Chiller Plant
ICOClasses4-7CleanRoomHVAC operation & monitoring
Utilities – water, electric, natural gas, liquid bulk gas tanks
Ensurecompliancewith local/state/federal regulations, inspections & certificates
Continuous improvement projects
Management Level –
Departmental expense and controllable budgets
