The Sr. Health & Benefits Data Analyst turns complex health and benefits data into clear, actionable insights. This role uses advanced data analytics, multivariate analyses, dashboards, benchmarking, and AI-driven analysis to show how effective programs deliver measurable results, helping position the organization as a leader in benefit analytics. We are looking to hire at least 2 positions.
Job functions:
Data Analysis & Insights
- Analyze data related to benefits, including medical claims, pharmacy claims, wellbeing programs, ergonomics, workersâ compensation, disability, flexible work schedule, paid time off, and other benefits. Identify trends, correlations, and leading indicators linking health and wellbeing programs, initiatives, and design to reductions in claims, accidents, and lost-time incidents.
- Support descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analyses across benefits programs (e.g., mental health, fertility, medical, ergonomics, occupational health and safety (OHS)).
- Enable ongoing evaluation of benefit suppliers and point solutions, including program effectiveness, utilization, outcomes, and cost impact.
- Build predictive models to forecast risk exposure, claim frequency/severity, and potential impact of preventive interventions.
- Design and deploy AI-driven models (machine learning, NLP, anomaly detection) to uncover hidden patterns in health, safety, and benefits data.
- Translate business and research questions into analytic requirements and ensure outputs are accurate, interpretable, and decisionâready.
- Review analytic outputs for quality, validity, and appropriate interpretation before sharing with stakeholders. Provide training and support to benefits managers for data interpretation and validity.
- Coordinate with leaders, actuary, and benefit managers to develop and automate recurring reports to ensure timely and scalable insights.
Impact Measurement & ROI Demonstration
- Quantify the financial and human impact of safety and wellbeing initiatives.
- Develop frameworks to measure return-on-investment (ROI) and value-on-investment (VOI) for health, benefits, and safety programs.
- Produce executive-ready narratives that clearly link prevention, wellbeing, and safety investments to business outcomes.
- Develop standardized key performance indicators (KPIs) and indices (e.g., incident/utilization rates, claim costs, wellbeing return-on-investment (ROI) metrics) to enable consistent comparisons across industries and geographies.
- Use benchmarking insights to translate clear recommendations for program design, investment prioritization, and risk mitigation.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with a third party analytics vendor and internal health and benefits program managers to design, streamline, and maintain dashboards that support data driven decision-making. Ensure consistent definitions, data quality, and visualization standards across reporting products while translating program needs into clear analytical requirements and insights
- Support leadership with data driven insights for strategic decisions related to benefits design, wellbeing initiatives, and safety programs.
- Act as a subject matter expert in benefit analytics.
- Help manage analytic demand to avoid backlogs, maintain momentum, and ensure sustained analytic capacity.
Governance, Ethics, & Compliance
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and appropriate use of sensitive health and employee data.
- Comply with all relevant data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Support fiduciary responsibilities related to benefits decisionâmaking by ensuring analyses are rigorous, unbiased, and wellâdocumented.
