Base Pay Range is $36.50 - $41.50 per hour
DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
The Extrusion Maintenance Technician 3 is responsible for the electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all extrusion equipment and related machinery in a window vinyl extrusion plant. This role ensures that electrical systems and equipment operate efficiently with minimal downtime, contributing to the plant's production goals. The electrician will also perform preventive maintenance and lead electrical improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components of extrusion equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical issues, including wiring, control systems, motors, and PLCs
- Repair or replace defective electrical parts, using advanced tools and precision measuring instruments
- Respond to electrical issues affecting production and maintain electrical services through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PM)
Operational Support:
- Lead the setup and calibration of electrical systems in extrusion machinery to meet production specifications
- Monitor electrical systems during production runs to identify and address any operational issues promptly
- Collaborate with production and maintenance staff to ensure seamless operation and minimal disruption during maintenance activities
- Assist with the electrical aspects of moving, installation, and repositioning of machines and equipment
- Train and mentor apprentices and less experienced electricians
Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in and lead root cause analysis to identify recurring electrical issues and implement long-term solutions
- Recommend and implement electrical process improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency
- Stay current with industry best practices and emerging electrical technologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist in the development of electrical planned preventative maintenance (PM) schedules
- Carry out PM schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required and provide feedback to develop the system
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct regular safety inspections and participate in safety training programs
- Identify and escalate any electrical activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage
- Promote environmental issues and ensure all company procedures are understood and followed
- Work within the 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) methodology to maintain the workplace to a high standard
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, including work orders, parts used, and equipment performance data
- Provide detailed reports on electrical system status, maintenance needs, and completed repairs
- Report breakdown root causes, electrical faults, and concerns to management
- Identify spare requirements for electrical components and log usage
- Estimate the length of time required to complete electrical jobs and the likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all electrical work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations
