The Licensing Investigations Unit of the New York City Department of Buildings safeguards the integrity of New York City鈥檚 construction industry by ensuring that licensed professionals meet and maintain the highest standards of competency, compliance, and ethical conduct.
Position Responsibilities
The Investigative Intern will assist investigators and supervisory staff in reviewing complaints, conducting background research, analyzing documentation, and preparing case materials related to licensing compliance and potential violations of the NYC Construction Codes and related regulations. This internship provides hands-on exposure to regulatory enforcement, investigative research, and administrative processes within a large municipal agency.
Under the direction and supervision of the Director, Licensing Investigations, the Intern will:
- Research, request and obtain relevant documentary evidence from individuals and businesses.
- Ability to comprehend New York City Administrative Codes, Laws, Rules and Regulations, as well as DOB policies and procedures.
- Utilize electronic research databases to investigate pending applicants.
- Utilizes computer systems to assist in the processing of investigations and maintain case records.
- Respond to and address written and verbal inquiries from the public.
- Work on various special projects and tasks assigned by the Director of Licensing Investigations Unit
