NOTE: This summer internship is for up to 13 weeks, starting from the first day of the internship and ending no later than September 4, 2026. Interns are expected to work 35 hours per week in person.

The Cranes and Derricks (C&D) unit鈥檚 mission is to ensure that crane and hoisting work in New York City is performed safely as per manufacturer鈥檚 recommendations and best industry practices while maintaining the requirements of the NYC Construction Codes.
Position Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Director, Cranes and Derricks, the intern will:
- Learn the code & engineering design requirements for suspended platforms
- Assist the plan examiners in the reviews of suspended scaffold filings
- Prepare lists of objections identified during the review of applications and discuss objections with plan examiners to finalize
- Review re-submissions of suspended scaffold jobs and discuss with plan examiner
- Update spreadsheets for the unit鈥檚 performance reports
