Plan Examination Intern (Bronx)
Job Description
NOTE: This summer internship is for up to 13 weeks, starting from the first day of the internship and ending no later than September 4, 2026. Interns are expected to work 35 hours per week in person.

The Plan Examination unit performs work in the engineering and architectural analysis of structures and building equipment systems and the examination of plans for the construction, alteration or repair. The unit examines plans for the construction, alteration, or repair of buildings and equipment systems under the jurisdiction of the NYC Department of Buildings.
Position Responsibilities
-Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Plan Examiner, the intern will:
-Conduct research for the Plan Examination team, Project Advocates, and Code and Zoning Specialists.
-Research Zoning Resolution for zoning challenges for the borough and present it to the Borough Commissioner鈥檚 office and/or Chief Plan Examiner.
-Participate in monthly staff training.
-Assist the Chief Plan Examiner in researching ongoing DOB issues and prepare training materials under the Chief鈥檚 guidance.
-Prepare business correspondence and official DOB letters for the Borough Commissioner鈥檚 Office.
-Assist with tracking, time management, and technical presentations.
