This position supports the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Engineering and Technical Support (RETS) program. This position provides subject matter expertise in cutting-edge technologies and their application into new and innovative warfighting capabilities, supporting technology assessments, capability development, and strategic technology planning.
Responsibilities:
ā¢ Provide expert knowledge and analysis of cutting-edge technologies and their warfighting applications
ā¢ Assess existing and future advanced DoD weapon systems capabilities, concepts of operations, limitations, and upgrade capacities
ā¢ Support technology roadmap development and strategic technology planning
ā¢ Support one or more highly technical activities including:
ā¢ Conduct in-depth technical assessments of land, sea, air, and space platforms
ā¢ Analyze offensive, defensive, kinetic and directed energy weapons systems
ā¢ Evaluate sensors for ISR and fire control applications
ā¢ Assess cyberwarfare capabilities and communication networks
ā¢ Provide expertise in electromagnetic spectrum management including EW and 5G
ā¢ Analyze automation applications and command, control, and battle management systems
ā¢ Support fires, close air support, long range fires, targeting, and air and missile defense assessments
ā¢ Interface with research and development communities, industry, and academia
ā¢ Provide technical input to acquisition decisions and program reviews
ā¢ Support prototyping and experimentation activities
