Patient Access Representatives deliver what matters most to our patients and their families, ensure exceptional experiences and thrive on making positive impacts in the community. As a Patient Access Representative, you will pre-register and greet patientsin the Emergency Department, verifyinformationand collect copays for diagnostic services and pre-register patients for outpatient services. Your role is essential to ensuring a seamless model of access for patients, physicians and family membersandsettingthe tone for howtheirvisit to the Emergency Department goes.
A caregiver in this position workseveningsfrom3:00PM – 11:00PM, including every other weekend.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform registration andcompletean accurateface-to-faceinterview to obtain demographic, insurance,medicaland financial information.
Crosstrain tostaffall areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office,EDand cash register.
Function as a Super User and act as a resource fortraining ofnew caregivers.
Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing rolewithinperson or phone contact
ORanAssociate’s Degreeand one year of experience
ORaBachelor’s Degree
Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
EPIC knowledge
Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
