Cleveland Clinicâs G90 Urology/Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit is dedicated to the care of post-operative urology and overflow surgical patients and focuses on pain control, return of bowel and bladder function, DVT prevention and ambulation. Patients in this unit range in age from youngadulttogeriatric,however, the most common patient population is approximately 65 years old. Some of the primary procedures performed on this unit include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with continent/incontinent urinary diversion.
A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation, 7:00AMâ7:30PM OR 7:00PM â 7:30AM. Â
A caregiver who excels in this role will:Â
Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.Â
Provide direct nursing care alongside asuccesscoach.Â
Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patientpreferenceand resource availability).Â
Respond to dataindicatingrisk to patientsâ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.Â
Seeksupervision,consultationandassistancewhen unable to perform safely and independently.Â
Documentinpatientsâ medical records.Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing(Diploma,ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross Â
New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
