The Assistant Director supports the management and oversight of warehouse operations, inventory control activities, and materials distribution within the Logistics & Inventory unit of Supply Chain Management. The position assists in supervising inventory staff, monitoring inventory accuracy, coordinating the movement of materials across NYCHA developments, and ensuring compliance with established inventory control procedures and internal systems such as Oracle and Maximo. The role also supports operational initiatives related to storeroom organization and inventory governance and assists senior management with reporting, operational monitoring, and audit readiness.
The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of Purchasing, Logistics & Inventory. The position provides operational supervision and guidance to staff engaged in warehouse and inventory operations, including Supervisors of Housing Stock Workers, Housing Stock Workers Level 1 and Level 2, Caretaker I (Floating as assigned) and Motor Vehicle Operators assigned to logistics and materials distribution functions.
Responsibilities include monitoring inventory control procedures, identifying operational issues, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with NYCHA policies and internal control standards. The Assistant Director also exercises discretion in coordinating logistics activities, supervising staff assignments, and supporting the implementation of operational initiatives across multiple locations.
Assistant Director duties, include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in overseeing warehouse and inventory operations supporting NYCHA developments.
- Coordinate and monitor inventory control activities, including receipt, storage, and distribution of materials.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring system integrity.
- Utilize Oracle and other NYCHA systems to support inventory and administrative operations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of operational procedures and controls.
- Review inventory data, reports, and documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate logistics and materials movement across multiple locations.
- Support audits, inspections, and operational reviews.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
