Responsible for engineering, design, and modifications related to Tunnel Ventilation System, Fire Strategies and Fire Engineering, 3D CFD Fire Simulation and analyzing Smoke control movement including the development of all related equipment and specifications and handling of procurement processes. May also support the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems. This role includes expertise in TVS design with Fire Simulation knowledge.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively design and verify the TVS for Rail, Road and Metro Tunnels, Buildings, Subways, Parking etc. Able to prepare Fire Life Safety Design and Analysis, Risk Management and Compliance
- Should be able to deal with the client directly and effectively respond to all the technical queries.
- Provide technical expertise for the mid to large size projects wherever needed.
- Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings and specifications of mechanical ventilation systems for tunnels in a diverse range of projects.
- Ensure accuracy of design to employers’ Requirements documentation.
- Active Collaboration with all the stakeholders.
- Prepare Technical reports, Calculations, Drawings, equipment selections and specifications, heating and cooling load calculations, pressure loss calculations, Attenuator sizing calculations.
- Develop simulation on SES (Subway environment simulation), IDA Tunnel, FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) or any other equivalent software for defining the air flow requirement of TVS fans and also for fire simulation for various scenarios.
- Develop 3D CFD simulation on Pyrosim/FDS or any other equivalent software for Smoke Management system.
- Provide guidance for space planning for TVS fans , Damper sizing and smoke management system, shaft requirements as per design scheme, in coordination with all other disciplines involved in the design.
- Work in multidisciplinary teams, review Structure, MEP design drawings to correctly develop models that accurately reflect the tunnels network, station(s) and facilities.
- Equipment selection in coordination with the vendor that aligns with the design intent.
- Space proofing of the tunnel ventilation equipment including equipment access and removal plans.
- Prepare and Check mode of operation table, systems integration with control and monitoring systems.
- Design optimization/ Value engineering to provide the most efficient solution.
- Attend and manage Internal & external project / design audits.
- Identify risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation plan.
- Collects and organizes fundamental engineering data following established procedures.
- Engages in routine engineering tasks involving calculations and basic testing.
- Proposes solutions for new issues that arise.
- Identifies and addresses discrepancies in results.
- Provides guidance to entry-level engineers.
- Works within agreed-upon budget and schedule, with moderate supervision.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate TVS with other engineering disciplines
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in TVS and industry best practices
