AECOM Burnaby is hiring a highly experienced Lead for Engineering Services During Construction (ESDC) to oversee and coordinate engineering support throughout the construction phase of a major transit infrastructure project involving elevated guideway & stations, power propulsion substations, and ancillary site works associated with such infrastructure.
The successful candidate will support a multidisciplinary team of engineers and specialists to ensure technical compliance, issue resolution, and able to work with contractors to convey design intent, address constructability issues in coordination with engineers/architects, and change management while driving requirements and obligations associated with Engineer of Record needs for project close-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the ESDC services providing engineering support across stations, guideway, and PPS during construction.
- Manage and coordinate design team field presence requirements to fulfill professional obligations.
- Manage client expectations regarding engineering support and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Coordinate timely responses to RFIs, NCRs, Site Instructions, and other construction-related queries.
- Review and manage time spent/monthly invoices associated with ESDC work.
- Coordinate with design teams and sub-consultants to resolve construction-phase technical issues.
- Support the management of design changes, and collaborate with commercial teams for cost/time implications as it relates to RFIs, NCRs, and site requests.
- Ensure that designated field monitors witness and review installed work prior to final sign-off and attend required site meetings accordingly.
- Work with project teams and stakeholders to establish and manage work processes and workflows for ESDC components such as RFIs, construction document submittals, record drawings, and construction certificates.
- Monitor and observe ESDC procedures during the construction phase and provide input to optimize processes where required.
- Collaborate with the Document Control team to ensure records are maintained for all post-IFC key technical decisions and design changes.
- Confirm accuracy and completeness of project close-out documentation.
- Collaborate with the Contractor and client on the project close-out and handover plan.
- Report regularly on construction-phase engineering activities to project leadership.
