Position Overview:
The Water Supply Specialist will be responsible for preparing strategic plans and technical assessments for water supply systems at the state and district levels. The role includes evaluating water resources, developing comprehensive piped water supply strategies, assessing water quality and sustainability, and recommending engineering solutions for urban and rural water supply schemes. The specialist will support long-term planning, prioritize critical works, and contribute to the preparation and finalization of the State Water Supply Strategic Plan.
Preferred Requirements:
- Prepare a Water Supply Strategic Plan for the State, covering all districts and identifying potential water resources, issues, risks, and sustainability of schemes.
- Develop a strategic plan for comprehensive piped water supply for all districts in line with VISION-2020.
- Prepare short-term, mid-term, and long-term action plans, including required investments.
- Identify and prepare a priority list of works based on criticality assessment such as water quality, sustainability, and demand–supply gap.
- Evaluate engineering options for different water sources (groundwater, surface water, and sub-surface water) and integrate urban and rural water supply schemes.
- Recommend investigations required to ensure long-term viability of water sources in terms of water quality and availability, along with mitigation measures.
- Prepare district water quality action plans for selected districts in West Bengal and identify key water quality issues with mitigation strategies.
- Perform any other tasks required for finalization of the Water Supply Strategic Plan.
