Start here. Grow here.
We are looking for a Engineer to join our multidisciplinary pavement engineering and construction materials team, working across airports, ports, highways, and related transport infrastructure.
This role is suited to an engineer who has moved beyond graduate level and is beginning to build confidence through involvement in live projects. It offers the opportunity to further develop technical capability, strengthen engineering judgement, and gain broad experience by working alongside experienced engineers on a diverse range of infrastructure projects.
Engineers in the team are not confined to a single discipline. Work is shaped by project needs and individual development goals, allowing exposure across multiple areas of pavement engineering and infrastructure delivery.
What you will be doing
- Supporting pavement design for new construction and maintenance, assessment, and evaluation work across airports, ports, highways, and related infrastructure.
- Collaborating with senior engineers, project teams, and other disciplines
- Providing technical advice on properties, performance and behaviour of construction materials such as aggregates, asphalt, concrete, hydraulically bound mixtures and soils
- Undertaking engineering calculations, analysis, and contributing to technical reports and supporting contract documentation (e.g. project specifications)
- Supporting site based activities where appropriate, such as inspections, sampling, or supervision support
- Reading, researching, and applying specifications and standards, and responding to project technical queries, seeking support from peers and mentors where needed
- Using standard engineering tools such as Excel, with exposure to data led analysis and digital tools as experience develops
- Providing limited CAD support where required, recognising that drawing production is not a core focus of the role, but CAD experience improves versatility
- Contributing to project delivery within agreed scopes and budgeted hours
Development & Progression
- Career development opportunities via AECOM University, technical practice networks, and volunteering days.
- Structured technical support from experienced engineers and senior staff
- Exposure to a wide range of projects and sectors
- Chartership support is available and actively encouraged
- Opportunity to build both technical depth and professional confidence over time
