The Materials Research Facility and teams provide advanced capabilities in nuclear and fusion materials. The MRF specialises in analysing irradiated materials through microstructural, thermophysical, and mechanical characterisation, alongside developing new experimental techniques. The Fusion Materials Interaction team studies materials under extreme fusion conditions using modelling, neutron experiments, and radiochemistry, while developing waste-reduction strategies. The Materials Science and Engineering team designs and tests advanced nuclear materials, including metals, composites, and coatings, using multiscale structural engineering and innovative post-irradiation and in-situ testing methods.
As MIAMI Senior Materials Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in undertaking research operations using the MIAMI-2 facility at the University of Huddersfield and assist in relocation of the laboratory equipment to J41 at Culham Campus.
