The Voice User Interface (VUI) Designer is responsible for creating intuitive, user-centered voice experiences for IVR applications across speech and DTMF channels. This role owns the design of call flows and conversational interactions, ensuring that IVR solutions are easy to use, effective, and aligned with business goals.
The position works closely with Product Owners, IVR Engineers, Application Architects, and speech scientists. It bridges customer experience design and technical implementation by translating requirements into clear call flows, design specifications, and user stories that guide development and tuning efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Creating user-centered IVR designs for speech and DTMF applications (Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency)
- Gather and analyze business and user requirements for IVR applications
- Design end-to-end call flows for speech and DTMF-based IVR experiences
- Create design specifications and documentation for IVR implementations
- Collaborate with Product Owners to shape and refine voice user experiences
- Create user stories for developers and speech scientists to implement designs
- Support speech scientists with grammar design and tuning
- Conduct usability testing and analyze results to improve IVR performance
- Tune IVR applications to optimize recognition accuracy and user experience
- Communicate design rationale and methodology to stakeholders
