Duties: Front Office - Answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying eligibility, assisting with medication refills, recording phone notes for patients, addressing incoming and outgoing faxes. No clinical work, no hands on patient care.
- Follows direction and anticipates the needs of the patient flow according to the Providers orders.
- Assists providers with patient visits and procedures (Pap Smears, minor surgical procedures, etc.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all back office functions of a medical assistant in accordance with the MA scope of practice and protocol.
- These functions include but are not limited to: intake and recording of health and immunization history, patient preparation for exam or procedure, administration of screening (hearing/vision) tests, preparation, administration of immunizations/medication, processing vital signs, venipuncture/blood draw/phlebotomy, and administration of injections.
- Assists in cross-training new personnel in regards to front desk and back office duties and cross training of personnel.
- Must work autonomously and be able to make decisions in the absence of the Supervisor and/or Administrator
- Able to provide guidance to the staff and feedback to management on the performance of the staff.
- Proficient in State Regulatory programs and its required documentation and patient support process.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all front office functions including receipt, documentation and direction of incoming phone calls to the appropriate person in a timely and efficient manner; scheduling, documentation and follow-up on patient appointments; preparation of forms and charts applicable to patient check-in or check-out; appropriate facilitation of specialty referrals, labs, e-x-ray, etc.
- Assures completion of patient visit documentation including logs, patient charting, inventory, etc. by provider & staff on date of patient visit.
- Attends to prescription refills, ensuring timely completion of call backs.
- Assists team in confirmation of appointment reminder calls on a daily basis.
- Participates in community outreach events to foster enrollment growth.
- Contributes to patient satisfaction at clinic site.
- Must be flexible to cover staffing shortages within cluster as well as rotational Saturday clinic hours may be required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in Medical Assistant duties including the front and back office skills and medical terminology
- Must have the ability to work in a face paced, multi-cultural environment supporting multiple Providers
- Good interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Must have the ability to satisfactorily speak, read, write and understand English for effective communication.
- Must be computer proficient in typing and system/ database support
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Practice Management (PM) systems are a plus
