Manager – Mining Operations Advisory

KPMG’s Mining Operations Advisory team partners with leading mining organisations to solve complex operational challenges across the value chain — from pit to port. We bring deep operational insight, structured problem-solving, and a collaborative approach to deliver sustainable performance improvements. Our work spans structured planning, management operating systems, autonomous operations, truck-shovel optimisation, operating model design, and asset performance uplift.

We are seeking a Manager to join our high-performing Mining Operations Advisory team in Perth. This role is ideal for someone with strong mining operations experience who has also developed a consulting skillset to engage clients, lead teams, and deliver impactful change.

Your Opportunity

You’ll work with tier-one mining clients to design and implement solutions that improve operational performance, integrate technology, and align frontline execution with strategic goals. You’ll also help shape the future of our practice by mentoring junior team members and contributing to business development.

As a Manager, you will:

• Lead and deliver engagements across areas such as structured planning, MOS, truck-shovel optimisation, autonomous operations, and operating model transformation.
• Apply your mining operations knowledge to solve real-world problems in collaboration with client teams.
• Use structured, hypothesis-driven approaches to identify high-impact opportunities and deliver measurable value.
• Coach and develop junior consultants, fostering a high-performance and inclusive team culture.
• Collaborate nationally with colleagues across KPMG’s Energy, Mining and Property practice.

Your Experience

We’re looking for someone who brings the credibility of mining experience with the mindset of a consultant. You might have worked in operational roles (e.g. planning, production, technical services) and then moved into advisory, or you may have built your consulting career with a strong mining focus.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Extensive experience in mining operations and/or consulting, ideally with exposure to iron ore, gold, coal, or base metals.
• Strong understanding of operational processes across the mining value chain (e.g. planning, haulage, processing, port operations).
• Ability to lead client engagements and manage multiple workstreams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) is desirable.
• Tertiary qualifications in engineering, mining, business, or a related field.
