The English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality English Language Arts instruction to students in grades 7β12. This role includes designing and implementing engaging, standards-aligned lessons, assessing student learning, and fostering a supportive, inclusive, and academically rigorous classroom environment that develops critical reading, writing, and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction
- Plan and deliver effective lessons aligned with the Arkansas English Language Arts Standards for grades 7β12.
- Integrate writing strategies, instruction, and relevant texts to support language development and critical thinking.
- Utilize a range of instructional methods, including technology and media, to enhance literacy and language instruction.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback and adjustments.β
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and respects all students.
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to promote student engagement and discipline.
Collaboration and Professional Development
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary lessons and share best practices.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and methodologies.
- Engage with parents and guardians to communicate student progress and address concerns.
Other Responsibilities (As Needed)
- Supporting student recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities.
- Write letters of recommendation for students.
- Additional tasks as requested to support student achievement, school culture, and team collaboration.
