We currently have a new opportunity for a Human Factors Engineering Analyst to join our Calgary or Ottawa team. Working with a team of Human Factors, User Experience experts and designers, you will define the problem space and the end user needs while advocating and expressing those needs to the engineering and development community. You will make decisions based on Human Factors principles, research and usability testing for military systems, ensuring the soldiers have the tools they need to be effective. The end result is an iterative user centred design process to ensure usable interfaces; which need to be effectively communicated through written and verbal presentations to the design teams and customers.
In this role, you will::
- Human Factors Analysis to identify end user needs (Task Analysis, Workload, End User Analysis) from concept to implementation
- Employing human factors principles, standards (MIL-STDS, ANSI, ISO etc), and research to a design to ensure a more effective and usable user interface.
- Create and support innovative and effective end user interfaces (hardware, software or firmware) and able to effectively communicate the design rationale.
- Communicate both the user needs and detailed user interface designs and design rationale through HFE documentation, and presentations in order to advocate for end users and a design within an integrated design team environment.
- Review equipment and system specifications for HFE requirements content.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to plan research so we can better understand our users and reveal new opportunities
- Preparing and executing various forms of in-person User Analysis and Usability Test events with the end user community resulting in detailed human factors analysis, recommendations or artefacts.
- Prepare recommendations and deliver presentations to influence and guide key stakeholders to better understanding
- Help define product requirements and understand user workflows to assist design and product teams in iterating through product discovery
- Development of or support of Human Factors analysis and artefacts (workload, task analysis, personas etc.) as well as influence the design of prototypes in a variety of mediums and fidelity as appropriate.
- Moderate workshops, in-person interviews, and remote sessions
- Facilitate research through collection, analysis and producing insights to lead the team towards better user outcomes
- Establish and maintain strong internal and external relationships
- Using an iterative user centred design process to ensure usable interfaces; which need to be effectively communicated through written and verbal presentations to the design teams and customers.
