WHAT DOES A VP, SOCIAL MEDIA DO?
This role leads a high-performing team of social and digital strategists, ensuring optimal performance, efficient budget management, and the continuous growth of team members’ skills. Acting as one of the company’s leading voices in social and digital trends, the VP develops and conducts department- and company-wide training to keep teams updated on best practices, platform changes, and emerging technologies — including the responsible application of AI within marketing workflows.
The VP oversees the strategic and creative execution of social media initiatives, integrating paid strategies into the broader digital ecosystem. They play a critical role in shaping day-to-day social media strategies, including content creation, social-first production, influencer engagement, social specific management, and portfolio oversight.
This leader proactively identifies emerging platforms and trends, develops point‑of‑view perspectives on platform updates and innovation opportunities, and champions participation in industry conferences and workshops. They cultivate and manage senior‑level relationships with platform partners, industry experts, influencers, and technology providers to drive meaningful partnerships and establish thought leadership.
The VP is also responsible for designing and governing AI‑enabled agents embedded across social marketing workflows — enhancing efficiency in strategy development, content creation, moderation, social listening, and reporting — while maintaining strong human oversight, ethical standards, and compliance within a regulated healthcare environment.
- Serve as social + digital leader embedded within collaborative teams for multiple US and global brands.
- Lead a team of high-performing social strategists to maximize performance, manage budgets efficiently, mentor team members, and support ongoing skill development across paid media, influencer strategy, social-first production, and emerging technologies.
- Act as a voice across the company to develop and deliver department- and companywide trainings that regularly update teams on platform best practices, paid innovation, influencer trends, and AI-enabled workflow enhancements.
- Oversee strategic and creative execution, ensuring expertise in paid social integration, platform-native storytelling, influencer activation, and alignment to the broader digital ecosystem.
- Play a pivotal role in leading day-to-day social media strategy for a variety of account teams, including content oversight, social-first production planning, influencer integration, project management, and portfolio leadership.
- Design and manage AI agents within social workflows to improve efficiency in content development, community management, listening, reporting, and performance optimization — maintaining responsible human oversight at all times.
- Oversee the development and communication of POV documents regarding platform changes, emerging technologies, and innovation opportunities across the social landscape.
- Identify, cultivate, and manage high-level relationships with industry experts, platform representatives, influencer partners, and technology vendors.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
