Job Description
The Global Tax & Customs function employs approximately 200 professionals. The function is headquartered in Wayzata, Minnesota. Sixty U.S. tax professionals work at the headquarter offices. Other tax professionals are located throughout the world with principal offices in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Winnipeg, London, Amsterdam and Singapore.
The Global Tax & Customs function has an opening for a Tax Manager within the U.S.-based International Group.
The International Group is currently comprised of 20 U.S. tax professionals. The International Group is the center of expertise tasked with applying the U.S. tax laws to the non-U.S. operations of Cargill. More specifically, the International Group prepares or coordinates the preparation of all U.S. tax calculations and forms associated with the non-U.S. operations of Cargill. The International Group also plans transactions and develops tax positions to ensure that Cargill reports its international results in the most tax-efficient manner. The planning focuses primarily on foreign tax credit utilization, subpart F minimization, repatriation strategies, post-acquisition integrations and internal restructurings.
This highly visible position operates as a Tax Manager and will be responsible for both tax compliance and planning projects. The Tax Manager will be responsible for managing the U.S. tax analysis and reporting of Cargill鈥檚 international operations in a certain geography or business unit. The Tax Manager will also be responsible for actively identifying tax planning opportunities and reviewing and improving compliance processes. In this capacity, the Tax Manager will work closely with other members of the U.S. International Group, the Global Tax & Customs Function, other functions and finance professionals within business units.
Principal Accountabilities:
鈥ax reporting and compliance: review earnings & profits and subpart F; review U.S. tax filings and notifications; identify and implement process improvements.
鈥ax planning: assist the group in identifying opportunities to maximize foreign tax credit utilization and minimize subpart F; review M&A and trade flows to identify and address U.S. tax risks and opportunities.
鈥ax training: provide continuous training and development to members of the tax function on key tax rules.
鈥ax controversies: assist with researching and responding to information requests from auditors.
Required:
鈥achelor鈥檚 degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent degree
鈥inimum of 5+ years of tax and accounting experience, with focus on U.S. international tax
鈥xperience must translate into an in-depth understanding of U.S. taxation of international operations
鈥illing and able to continue to learn the developing areas of tax laws
鈥xcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
鈥uperior analytical skills
鈥otivation to lead and develop a high-performing team
Preferred:
鈥BT, MBA or JD
鈥ertified public accountant designation/license
