Appointment Type: This is a Temporary Provisional (TPV) position excluded by the Charter from the competitive Civil Service examination process. It is considered "at will" and shall serve at the discretion of the Department Head. This position will be subject to the Permanent Civil Service examination process at a later date. Successful participation in the Permanent Civil Service examination and selection through an open competitive process is needed in order to be considered for the permanent appointment.
Job Description
Under direction of the Reentry Division Director, the 9775 Community Development Specialist II (Reentry Services Supervisor) provides day to day supervision of reentry staff in the 9774 Senior Community Development Specialist I classification. The Reentry Services Supervisor assists the Reentry Division Director in developing and administering APD’s realignment and reentry services from identifying services need and best practices, to developing service designs and budgets and assisting with competitive bid processes, through contract development. The Reentry Service Supervisor will manage a portfolio of contracts and grant agreements. The Reentry Services Supervisor will also play a role in services development and community engagement for pretrial services.
The Reentry Services Supervisor will be responsible for developing a new reentry services community engagement and mentorship strategy that strengthens APD’s partnerships with public and private sector services providers, and which collaborates with stakeholders of the previously incarcerated community to fine tune a mentorship and life coaching program that successfully engages eligible previously incarcerated mentors with young adult mentees ages 18 – 35. The Reentry Services Supervisor assists the reentry division director to develop or mobilize data tracking and evaluation efforts needed to demonstrate the efficacy and effectiveness of APD’s realignment and reentry services, and pretrial services and is also directly involved in applying for local, state and federal grants. The Reentry Services Supervisor conducts critical analysis of APD’s reentry services protocols and practices and makes recommendations to the reentry director for improvements.
