Introduction
As an applied physicist, you will support the design, integration, and commissioning of front-end electronics systems across LHCb subdetectors (VELO, RICH, CALO) for the LHCb Upgrade II project, targeting demanding timing requirements. Your work will combine hands-on technical development - system integration, calibration, and module R&D - with harmonising timing approaches across subdetectors, working closely with CERN Electronics and Detectors Technology support groups, and the LHCb Online team.
Functions
- Support system-level integration and commissioning of the electronics chain, working with subdetector experts and the LHCb Online team.
- Develop control software and calibration procedures for detectors in the LHCb electronic control system.
- Provide project-based support for PCB development, mechanical/cooling integration, and electronics infrastructure (LV, HV).
- Coordinate across LHCb subdetectors (VELO, RICH, CALO) to harmonise fast timing implementation at the front-end level, liaising with CERN Electronics support experts and the LHCb electronics coordinator.
- Contribute to R&D on module integration and cooling.
