As an Lead Electric Motor Design Engineer, you will joinour London team to support our activities within the Aerospace sector.
You will be working on complex R&D and R&T engineering programmes focused on the development and maturation of mechanical product solutions from concept through to validation. The projects involve multi-disciplinary collaboration within regulated, high-integrity environments, requiring robust, cost-effective designs that are suitable for manufacture and long-term operational use.
- Location: London
- On Site: Hybrid
- Clearance: Not required
- Experience Level: Senior level
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the mechanical design of rotating electric motor systems for EV and electrified powertrain applications
- Deliver robust mechanical design solutions across R&D / R&T programmes, from concept through to validation
- Act as technical authority for mechanical designs, reviewing and approving work produced by Product Engineers
- Own and/or support mechanical engineering work packages, ensuring delivery against cost, quality and programme milestones
- Ensure designs meet Design to Cost, Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) requirements
- Provide technical supervision to a small, multi-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, stress, thermal, V&V, industrialisation, quality)
- Interface closely with stress, thermal and NVH teams to ensure rotating machinery meets performance and durability requirements
- Support integration of motor designs into wider EV systems and vehicle architectures
- Contribute to and support design reviews, risk assessments and technical decision-making at system and component level
