Job Summary
Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for administering treatment programs as established and supervised by a Physical Therapist.
This position reports to the Assistant Director, Rehabilitation Services and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
-Must be able to effectively interact appropriately to an individualās intellectual level and physical ability with
-Administer and/or instruct patients in therapeutic exercises and activities, gait training, wound care, manual therapy techniques, ADL training and orthotic/prosthetic training.
-Administer modalities during the course of therapy such as, whirlpool, heat/cold, US, paraffin, ES, TENS, CPM, traction and iontophoresis, in accordance with professional associationās Standards of Practice and level of clinical ability.
-Comply with all departmental, hospital, and regulatory standards of patient care and safety.
-Monitor patientsā responses to treatment and modify treatment during sessions as indicated in collaboration with the supervising Physical Therapist.
-Reports observations of patientsā performance and responses to the therapy program to the supervising Physical Therapist.
-Collaborate with supervising Physical Therapist in planning the termination of patientsā services.
-Document and maintain treatment records per department policy, āDocumentation of Patient Care.ā.
-Demonstrate commitment towards patient and departmental needs and goals through flexibility in patient scheduling, work schedules and teamwork.
-Identify own continuing education needs and demonstrates ongoing learning and professional development.
-Work effectively with Physical Therapist Assistant students, rehabilitation aides, and/or volunteers.
-Help maintain treatment areas, including general upkeep, alerting appropriate staff for equipment maintenance and repairs, and restocking of treatment supplies.
-Participate in non-patient care responsibilities such as scheduling, billing, record keeping, etc. in an active and punctual way.
-Demonstrate professional qualities such as initiative, follow-through, personal responsibility, and accountability, quality-oriented work and growth.
-Maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality improvement program, safety, compliance, infection control, and environmental standards.
-Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences or in-services, professional affiliations, or journals to stay abreast of current trends in field of expertise.
-Attend meetings as required.
-Meet annual competency and retraining requirements.
-Perform other functions/duties as requested.
