As a Recreational Therapist, you will plan,organizeand conduct daily therapeutic programs tofacilitaterehabilitation and enhance the social, cognitive,physicaland emotional functioning of patients.This is a fast-paced environment, with each day bringing something new to learn from. APRNcaregiver in this position works varyingdays from 8:00AM – 4:30PM, with the availability to work weekends and nights.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Developandproviderecreational therapy treatment programs.
Perform initial andon-goingassessments ofpatient'scondition.
Establish a plan of careand involve the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires.
Perform therapy interventionsutilizingrecreational therapy techniques and skills asappropriate forthe age and condition of the patient.
Supervise activities of recreational therapy assistants,studentsand other support personnel.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s orMaster’s Degreein Recreational Therapy
Current state licensure as a Registered Recreational Therapist
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Physical Requirements:
Ability to maintain balance despite sudden load, in order to support person from falling during gait.
Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift a person's arms or legs during exercise programs.
Requires the ability to sit and be stationary for prolonged periods of time, normal or corrected vision and manual dexterity sufficient to perform work on a personal computer.
Requires the ability to travel throughout the hospital system and function in a stressful environment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
