Mercy Hospital’s 4thfloor is home to the 4A Transitional Care Unit along with the 4M Med/Surg Telemetry Unit.4Ais a 12-bed unit thatconsists of patients who are transitioning from acute care to home or another care setting and patients who no longer require the intensity of acute hospital care but still need specialized medical, nursing or other care before discharge. 4M, on the other hand,is a 28-bed unit thatcares for patients who require a period of observation to determine their appropriate course of treatment, whether they need to be admitted or can be discharged. This unit is typically fast-paced and allows our caregivers to assess, diagnose and treat medical concerns with non-invasive methods.
As a Nurse Manager, you will manage the delivery of care within the4A and 4MunitsatMercy Hospital. In this role, you will provide diagnostic or therapeutic services to patients while offering clinical supervision,maintainingqualityoutcomesand supervising all aspects of personnel management and development.Ultimately, yourdedication and leadership help enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience for everyone, whether they are patients,visitorsor fellow caregivers.
A caregiver in this position worksMonday-Fridayfrom 7:30AM – 4:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Manage the practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinicalsupervisionandmaintainquality outcomes and patient care standards.
Identifyand resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures toensureefficient and effective delivery of health services.
Supervise caregivers and promote development.
Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
Coordinate unit operations with other units/departments.
Develop and monitor budgets, approvepurchasesandestablish/revise inventory quotes.
Analyze personnel structure anddeterminestaffing needs.
Evaluate performance, conductselectionand terminationprocessesand develop strategic plans.
Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
Direct unit participation in evaluation of new products.
Approve purchases and establish or revise inventory quotes.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’sof Science in Nursing (BSN)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience
High degree of clinicalexpertisein the specialty area
Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Master’s Degree in Nursing(MSN)
Acute care medical telemetry background
Two years of management experience in an inpatient environment
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye and hand coordination.
Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking.
Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
