As Consultant II, Community Relations, you will execute and support strategies that strengthen CarMax’s commitment to the communities where our associates live and work. In this role, you will support community relations and CarMax Foundation programs—including volunteerism and associate giving—by partnering across the business to deliver meaningful community impact. Your work will help translate CarMax’s values into action bysupportingtrusted nonprofit partnerships, engaging associates in purpose-driven programs, and ensuring operational excellence across community initiatives.

Team Overview
TheCommunity Relations teamleads CarMax’s enterprise-wide,community-drivenengagement and philanthropic efforts, including The CarMax Foundation, associate volunteerism, and giving programs. Our associates are at the heart of this work—giving their time, talents, and passion to serve their communities with pride.
The team partners with nonprofit organizations, internal leaders, andassociates todesign and deliver programs aligned to CarMax’s community focus areas. We are a collaborative, service-oriented team that values strong relationships, thoughtful strategy, operational excellence, and continuous improvement to help communities thrive.
Role Responsibilities
Driveand support community relations and Foundation programs, including associatevolunteer and giving initiatives, ensuring consistent and effective execution
Serve as aprogram administratorfor community and Foundation platforms and tools, supporting data accuracy, reporting, and day-to-day operations
Partnerwith nonprofit organizations and internal stakeholdersto process grants, respond to inquiries, and deliver high-quality program experiences
Process andtrackgrants, vendor requests, and invoicesensuringtimelysubmission, documentation, and payment support
Support andenhance associate engagement opportunities, including volunteer team-builders,matching gift programs, and community activations
Track and compile program datarelated to budgets, participation, and impact, to support ongoing evaluation
Contribute ideas for program and process improvements, incorporating feedback from associatesand nonprofitpartners
Develop andmaintainclear communications and resourcesfor associates, nonprofit partners, and internal teams
Represent CarMax and The CarMax Foundation as acommunity liaisonas needed for program implementation and relationship-building
Supportadditionalcommunity relations initiatives andprojectsasassigned
Required Qualifications
2+ years of experiencesupporting community relations, nonprofit, corporate social responsibility, or related programs with a focus on project, program, or operations management
Experience managingmultiple priorities and deadlinesin a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
Strongorganizational, planning, and execution skillswith attention to detail
Excellentverbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
Demonstratedcustomer-service mindsetwhen working with nonprofit partners, associates, and internal stakeholders
ProficiencyinMicrosoft Office Suite(Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience withvolunteer management, grant making, or corporate giving programs
Experiencein process excellence or data analytics
Familiarity withrelationship management, grant, or volunteer platforms(e.g.Benevity or similar tools)
Experience withbudget tracking, reporting, or basic financial processesand platforms(e.g.QuickBooks)
Volunteer or nonprofit sector experience
