Summary
Performs invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures and is responsible for the operation and quality assurance of film processing, patient monitoring and the x-ray equipment. Participates in the daily activities of the section by assisting as a scrub, float, and imaging technologist.The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:
Fully competent to perform all procedures within the Special Procedures section of invasive diagnostic, neurodiagnostic, interventional radiology and neurointerventional procedures
Demonstrates competency and efficiency in the treatment, care and interaction with all patients to include adolescents, adults and geriatrics
Fully competent in the technical operation of equipment
Serves as liaison between the floor nurse, unit secretary and attending physicians as to orders, procedures, scheduling, status of procedures, and other related questions or concerns
Assesses the patient, reviews chart for orders and lab results. Loads any pertinent prior imaging and insures completion of Radiant in Epic. Communicates with the Interventionalist as to the availability of all the above.
Prepares the patient for their procedure, answers questions within their scope of practice. Directs other questions to Interventionalist
Provides a safe environment to include, but not limited to, radiation exposure, contrast administration and infection control guidelines/Universal precautions
Maintains accurate record of patient care
Responsible for adding charges, beginning and ending each procedure in the computer system to ensure proper patient billing for services
Responsible for maintaining professional growth to include current methodology of procedures, equipment and techniques. Maintains annual mandatory hospital training
Maintains exceptional guest relations with patient, visitors, hospital staff and medical staff to include the use of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you)
Actively participates in the clinical education of student technologists
Monitors the quality of care based on on-going monitors striving for continuous improvement. Performs QA of exams prior to sending to Physician for dictation. Actively participates in Department’s Performance Improvement projects
Actively participates in helping the department reach patient satisfaction goals by providing quality care, explaining procedures, and performing procedures in a timely manner
Promotes teamwork within the department by assisting in all areas and using effective communication

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
ARRT (R) required
Cardiovascular Interventional (CV) or Vascular Interventional (VI) registry required.
One year of work experience required
Demonstrates technical skills and expertise
Verbal and written skills required
Demonstrates good patient care
Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups
Provides care based on the patient’s developmental needs
Experienced in the treatment of and interacts effectively with patients of all ages to include newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics
Good hearing, ability to communicate orally, visual acuity, motor coordination and manual dexterity
Good physical and mental stamina to perform duties and responsibilities
Must have ability to assume awkward positions
Must have mobility to respond to emergency situations
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
Must be able to bend and lift 100 lbs with frequent lift/carry objects up to 50 lbs
Wears lead lined apron for extended periods of time
Work requires moving of equipment and patients, exposure to radiation, and patient contact
May be subject to occupational exposure to include skin, eye, mucous membrane or parental contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
